Ceramic Filter Foam

Kingsun provides professional and honest service.

Ceramic filter foams are essential in the metal casting and foundry industries, used to filter out impurities in molten metal, thereby improving the quality and performance of the final product.

These filters must deliver precision performance in extreme heat and challenging conditions, meeting the highest standards for performance, durability, and heat resistance. Our expertise and engineering know-how make a crucial difference here. As leaders in engineering-based foam conversion, we supply products used in some of the most prestigious foundries globally for casting aluminum, steel, iron, and copper.

Precision Engineering on a Large Scale

Even minor non-metallic impurities in molten metal can drastically affect the performance and strength of finished products. Such impurities can cause failures to meet necessary quality standards, leading to costly recasting or scrapping. Ceramic filters are vital in eliminating these impurities, ensuring high-quality casting.

This underscores the importance of precision and accuracy in ceramic filters. Many customers choose us as their supplier to guarantee quality, durability, and performance every time.

As renowned converters of high-grade polyurethane reticulated foam, we produce ceramic filters in various thicknesses, pore sizes (starting from 8ppi), and composites to suit every metal casting process. These vary from thin castings for automotive and aerospace applications to robust ceramic foam filters for casting iron or steel plant and machinery components.

With every application, expect the highest quality and superior performance.

Advancements in Ceramic Filter Technology

Our ceramic filter foams, developed by a leading engineering-based company, effectively remove non-metallic inclusions. This enhances performance in the end product and facilitates various fabrication processes, including:

1. Superior Mechanical Performance

By removing non-metallic elements from molten metals, the finished product gains improved strength and resistance to fatigue and wear. This is crucial in all applications, especially in the automotive or aerospace sectors where metal fatigue could result in severe human injury.

2. Improved Appearance

Purer molten metal results in smoother surfaces, leading to more aesthetically pleasing and mold-resistant goods. Ceramic filtration also prevents gas bubble formation.

3. Effective Machining

Non-metallic elements are generally denser and harder, which can reduce the lifespan of tooling and machining equipment.

4. A Melting Pot of Ideas

Since 1990, Technical Foam Services has been involved in high-quality ceramic foam filter conversion. Combining in-depth expertise with outstanding in-house engineering capabilities allows us to develop and manufacture a vast array of ceramic foam solutions. This bespoke service meets each customer’s unique specifications and metal-processing requirements.

Ceramic Foam Filters for Foundry

Ceramic foam filter (AL2O3 for aluminum) is a high-adsorption ceramic filter plate with a three-dimensional network structure. It uses an organic foam as a carrier.

The ceramic foam filter adopts four correction center distances and an automatic extrusion process, ensuring the slurry is evenly applied to the foam frame of the carrier. After curing and drying, the foam filter is successfully fired at a high temperature of 1680 degrees. It filters impurities in molten aluminum alloy. AdTech ceramic foam filters meet the high-tech performance requirements of aluminum alloy production.

Application of Ceramic Foam Filter

Ceramic foam filters effectively remove and absorb impurities in molten aluminum, improving surface quality, product performance, and microstructure effectiveness. The casting filter is mainly used in aviation, transportation, computer hard drives, PS baseboards for printing, canning materials, fan blades for turbojet engines, and other aluminum alloy precision casting.

AdTech alumina ceramic foam filters are available in all common sizes: 7", 9", 12", 15", 17", 20", and 23". AdTech offers porosities from PPI 20 up to PPI 60 and can be customized according to customer needs. Ceramic foam filters are equipped with a gasket on the edges, ensuring the filter's proper and tight position within the filter box. AdTech ceramic filters adopt sealing gaskets in fiber paper, fiber cotton, and expanding cotton materials.

Foam Ceramic Filter

The basic material of the foam ceramic filter is Al2O3. The filter's heat resistance temperature is above 1180°C, offering high strength and excellent high-temperature impact resistance.

Among various types of metal oxide ceramics, alumina boasts superior high-temperature stability, making it suitable for ceramic coatings and high-temperature refractory products. With the lowest thermal conductivity among common ceramics and a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of metals, it is an important electronic material. Alumina also serves as an excellent reinforcing phase in metal matrix composites due to its mechanical and thermal properties. Alumina ceramics dominate in usage among metal oxide ceramics, known for high strength and toughness through phase transformation toughening.

Ceramic Foam Filter Manufacturer

The foam ceramic filter facilitates the even filling of cavities by molten metal. The molten metal, with a tendency for turbulence during pouring, passes through the foam ceramic filter's three-dimensional pore structure, converting into a stable laminar flow. This reduces the molten metal's impact and corrosion on the casting cavity. If you are interested in our products, please feel free to contact us.
