I am in the process of converting a Sprinter into a motorhome. I have installed an inverter just so that we can have the luxury of plugging in a normal kitchen kettle to boil up water for a cupper. I've put in a w Projecta pure sine wave inverter (model: IP). You need this sort of power just to run an electric kettle. I also like this inverter because it has couple of nice features:
1. If nothing is plugged into it, it goes into standby mode and hardly uses any power at all. This was a big consideration for me when choosing an inverter. Most other inverters on the market will be constantly sucking few watts out of you battery even when nothing is plugged in.
2. When you're staying in a caravan park and you connect your van to the parks AC power you can have the inverter (wired up at the installation time) so that the inverter automatically switches from your battery to the parks AC. This way you are not draining your own batteries.
