How can ozone be dissolved in water?

There are two primary methods for dissolving ozone into water: injectors and diffusors.

Injectors

Ozone injectors (or venturis) offer a straightforward solution for ozone mass transfer. The ozone gas simply dissolves into the water through suction created by pressure.

Diffusors

Bubble diffusors release ozone through hundreds of bubbles beneath the water's surface, becoming more efficient with greater water depth. The smaller the bubbles, the more efficient they are. However, factors like water surface tension and the creation of water flow patterns can challenge this process by causing gas bubbles to merge into larger ones.

Fine-bubble diffusors are widely used due to their ability to operate without additional energy apart from the initial gas compression. In this system, ozone gas is typically discharged from the ozone generator at a pressure of 0.7-1.0 Bar, sufficient to overcome the hydrostatic head and the pressure loss due to the gas distributor piping and diffusors. This diffusion system may also be used with ozonators operating under negative pressure, using stainless steel liquid ring gas compressors to inject ozone under pressure.
