A little background on depotting.

There was a time when making your own makeup palettes was a tedious and somewhat dangerous process (depending on the method of deconstructing the packaging), not to mention the heartbreak of accidentally destroying a much beloved product. How does the Z Potter work?

The Z Potter uses induction heat, (so no flames are involved) and the device itself does not get hot. Heat is generated when an induction-ready type of metal (magnetic) is placed on the device, even if it is still inside the compact. Once it gets hot enough to melt the glue holding the pan, use a metal makeup spatula to lift it out or turn it over and let it gently fall onto a paper towel to cool off (it will be very hot). If any glue residue remains on the bottom, you can remove it with alcohol or cover it with a Z Palette Metal Stickers (more info below).

How do you know if the pans are magnetic?

What happens if the brand of cosmetic products you want to depot doesn&#;t use magnetic pans? No problem! The Z Potter comes with a tiny magnet to help you determine if the pans are already magnetic. If they&#;re not, just place them on the induction metal plate that&#;s also included. Since they are not magnetic pans, you will most likely need to use the Z Palette Metal Stickers for a secure hold to the magnetic base of your chosen empty palette.
