Woven vs. Non-Woven PP - 1 Bag at a Time

It&#;s easy to tell if a laminated bag you have is made from woven or non-woven PP.  Just look inside. If it has the checker-board look of weaving, like threads going at ninety degree angles, it is woven.  If it has a steady textured look, it is non-woven.

You can find more information on our web, so please take a look.

Plastics are not all created equal. Plastics are as different from one another as wool and cotton.  Sure wool and cotton are both natural fibers, but one comes from animals and other from a plant, and we all know how they feel when we use them.

Used to make everything from lunch boxes, and pens to bottle caps and car parts, polypropylene is among the most versatile of plastics.  It can It turns out, there are two ways to take polypropylene plastic and make it into a fabric.

Woven PP is made by pressing long strings of polypropylene molecules (called polymers) together to make a threat-like strip, then weaving these fabrics as you would any other fabric.  Woven PP has been used to make sacks for a number of industrial uses like sand bags as well as for packaging bulk coffee, rice and other dry foods.  It is clean, strong and easy to sew, a natural for bags.  Woven PP is usually laminated to the strands together as they are slippery and can separate easily.  Because the PP can dry out at a different rate than the lamination, laminated PP tends to pucker a bit after a few months.

Non-woven PP is made by taking polypropylene polymers and spinning them using heat and air into long fluffy threads, like cotton candy, then pressing the threads together between hot rollers to get a flexible but solid fabric with a weave-like texture similar to canvas.  The texture leaves the fabric breathable, with a look and feel that is generally pleasant.  The color and texture of NWPP can last for years.  Screen printing in a few colors is an easy process for graphics.

Woven PP is usually white and achieves graphics with the lamination, though some woven PP fabrics use colored threads to make a plaid sort of pattern and clear lamination.  Our NWPP wholesale shopping bags can be made in a solid color imaginable.

PP woven bags, definition, benefits and applications

PP woven bags are very popular in the plastic industry. We will see some aspects of this packing type.

What is PP woven bags

PP woven bags are bags made of PP plastic in the woven method.

Woven, or weaving is a method by many threads or tapes woven in two directions (warp and weft), to form a fabric for plastic industry needs.

Polypropylene (PP), is one kind of thermoplastic resin material produced by the polymerization of propylene.

Woven polypropylene is polypropylene strips/threads that have been woven in two directions (warp and weft) to create a light, but strong and heavy-duty material.

Woven polypropylene bags: Build with circular woven polypropylene fabric, one side sewn as the bottom, leave the other side open, the simplest woven polypropylene bags are done.

Benefits of using PP woven bags

  • Woven cloth is flexible.
  • It is able to retain its shape well.
  • Woven fabrics are strong, therefore, bags can be reused multiple times.
  • Bags can be put in the washing machine.
  • It can be designed in a laminated or matte finish. Non-laminated woven bags are not recommended as they will have a cheap look.
  • The bags do not degrade when wet.
  • They are naturally resistant to tearing.
  • Bags can be printed on one side or both sides.
  • Bags allow the contents to breathe until air-dried.
  • These bags have better burst strength than plastic bags.
  • PP woven sacks can be laminated as the vapor and moisture barrier.
  • Moreover, bags can be partially transparent for an outstanding presentation.
  • Bags also can be side gusseted to accommodate bulky items easily.

Applications of PP woven bags

  • Agricultural product packaging: PP woven bags are largely used in storing and transporting agricultural products such as aquatic products, feeds, fruits, vegetables, etc. PP woven bags used in the agricultural industry typically include feed PP woven bags, chemical PP woven bags, fertilizer PP woven bags, vegetable weaved bags and fruit mesh bags.
  • Food packaging: PP woven bags are increasingly used to pack food. Common food woven bags include rice PP weaved bags, flour PP woven bags, maize woven bags, etc.
  • Geotechnical engineering: PP woven fabrics are extensively used in the construction of irrigation works, roads, railways, ports, mines, buildings, and more. Having the functions of filtering, draining, isolation, and anti-seepage, PP woven fabrics are one of the most popular geosynthetics.
  • Tourism and transport: Temporary tents, sunshades, and various travel bags can be made by PP woven fabrics. In addition, plastic woven fabrics can also be used as fences and screens during construction.
  • Daily necessities: PP woven bags are almost used by everyone, whether workers, farmers or cargo agents, etc. You can find plastic woven products (such as shopping bags, logistics bags, etc.) in stores, warehouses and houses, nearly everywhere.
  • Flood control products: Woven bags play an important role in reducing or preventing the detrimental effects of floodwaters. They are widely used in the construction of dams, river banks, roads, and railways. Woven polypropylene sandbags are widely used all over the world.
  • The special woven bags: The special woven bags also are used to serve some special purposes. For example, UV resistant woven bags have UV protection and anti-aging function, allowing them a longer lifespan in the sunlight. Woven polypropylene tube with UV protection can be used for earthbag buildings.
