When to Use mma 250 welding machine?

Portable Electric Welder 220V MMA-250 ARC Mini Welding ...

Hello to all, are these machines worth having? I am having bother getting into tight spaces and welding the bottom of the chassis with my mig to patch up my landrover 110. Is stick any better to weld overhead so to speak. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards Mark. I did try welding my Disco td5 rear chassis with Arc (tiny Lidl inverter jobbie £60)
but found it a bit too brutal for my skill level, so ended up using Mig...( tiny Aldi gasless inverter jobbie £60).

Still not brilliant, but needs-must & I got there in the end.
Problems mostly caused by me not cutting out enough rusted-thin metal.
May upgrade to gas-mig at some point but deterrent is, almost all my (infrequent) welding is outside.

Overhead welding under a 24yr-old rusty truck is never nice or easy
but at least the "diy" option can be done cheaply enough, provided the welder lasts long enough to finish the job.

Buying one locally you may find a better warranty than ebay (mine from Lidl & Aldi are both 3 years, I believe).
Although at this price, just replace it when it fails? Got a mig to do my 110 chassis a few years back. 150 Mighty Mig on co2 paying for welding was to expensive. Needs must I could not agree more. 150 Mmig pcb went faulty so I picked up a second hand Cemont 150 and changed from co2 to Argon/co2 mix what a diiference it worked well as back up until I got the Mm 150 was sorted. 150 amp has worked well and even better with argon/c02 mix. Overhead welding and in tight spaces I can not mange and thought a rod machine would help for overhead welding, the rod is way easier to point at the metal than the mig handle. Hello, depends on the state of the chassis, if your welding new steel plate you can get away with arc welding and that welder has a good low range amps, if you welding anything to rusty then once clean the mig will be best, when your doing overhead welding your amps need to be precise to run a good bead , i used ESAB -1 rods for overheads, Hi

Hi, trying to weld in new metal patch to old metal. I thought stick would let me get in to tight spaces and I have toyed with getting stick machine. At that price it isn't to much of a gamble. Will stick drip like mig on overhead work. Also thought about flux core mig wire and no shroud.

Hello, What do you mean by overhead ? lying on your back and welding above ?? What tight spaces are you looking to weld, can you put on Photos, You can overhead weld with arc but you need to adjust amps to a fine point on the welder, i work many years on a Power Station Build with only Arc Welders so you had to weld in situ , it takes a lot of practice but you should be able to get a weld done, the right rods would be best like i mentioned I have thought about buying a cheap gasless mig like the one from Dirty Pro Tools. I believe you can take the shroud off and have a large stick out as there's no gas shield to worry about. Anybody use a welder like this to get into awkward places?

The area on the chassis leg in front of the rear spring. I have the wheel, shock and spring remove. I could doing with axle out.

I am far from an expert and based my 150 purchase on a bit of investigating and purchase limit. If you go for a mig it might be better to get one that can do gas and no gas welding. Also consider the gauge of metal you will be welding mm wise and how often you will use it? I changed to arg/co2 mix and it made a big difference to my welds.

Hello, ok, that is not the easiest of places to weld looking at a diagram, there is a chap on PW doing just that using an arc welder he bought for his 110 Chassis, i will see what welder he is using, i just sent him a mail
I think this is the reactance and my earth lead goes to it. Is that the correct way for gas welding?
For solid wire with gas, the MIG torch should be positive and the work return cable negative.
The inductor ( choke ) is often in the negative path, after the rectifier, but since this is a series circuit, it can actually be on the positive side. The circuit diagram, markings on components, wire colours, or a DC voltmeter will identify which is correct.
